Omelette Rice (Omurice)
A simple Japanese comfort food made with fried rice wrapped in an omelette.
Ingredients
For the Fried Rice
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1β2 tbsp oil or butter
- 2 tbsp chopped onion
- 2 tbsp carrot (optional)
- 2 tbsp peas or corn (optional)
- ΒΌ cup cooked chicken / sausage / mushrooms (optional)
- 2β3 tbsp ketchup
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
For the Omelette
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp milk (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp butter or oil

Instructions
1. Make the Fried Rice
- Heat oil or butter in a pan.
- Add onion and cook until soft.
- Add vegetables and chicken. Cook for 2β3 minutes.
- Add rice, ketchup, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well and set aside.
2. Make the Omelette
- Beat eggs with salt and milk.
- Heat butter or oil in a pan.
- Pour eggs and cook until softly set.
3. Assemble
- Place rice in the center of the omelette.
- Fold omelette over the rice.
- Add ketchup or mayonnaise on top.
