Afghan Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp ground coriander
1 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried mint
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp black pepper
pasta
Steps:
bring water to boil for pasta and begin to cook pasta according to package directions while you are making ground beef
sauce the onion in some oil. once translucent- add in ground beef and minced garlic. allow this to brown for about 5 minutes
add in all the spices listed for ground beef and brown for another 5 minutes
add the water and close the lid to cook through until liquid has evaporated
then add the tomato paste and tomato sauce
leave on low simmer for a few minutes until sauce comes together
when pasta has cooked, add in a few spoonfuls of meat sauce to the pasta and let the sauce coat the noodles well
on your serving platter- a spread of mint yogurt
on the final top layer add fresh cilantro and dried mint
