Ingredients
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Bring water and milk to a boil in a saucepan.
- Slowly whisk in the grits and reduce heat to low.
- Cook grits for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and creamy.
- Stir in butter and shredded cheese until melted.
- In a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy.
- Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add shrimp, paprika, pepper, and salt, then cook until shrimp are pink.
- Spoon grits into bowls and top with shrimp and bacon.
